Coaching
Executives
and senior managers have discovered that personal coaching can be
an invaluable tool in increasing their leadership and management
effectiveness. Many business leaders use Mastel Associates’
executive coaching professionals to obtain sounding board advice
on business strategies and career decisions, to prepare for a future
position or to simply develop a specific competency essential to
their ongoing success.
Our executive coaching service is designed to
help individuals gain a deeper understanding of who they are and
how they might enhance and better apply their strengths. As an external
resource, a coach can address challenging and sensitive management,
leadership and performance issues in a constructive, supportive
way.
Coaching is a dynamic process built on a solid
partnership; success is directly linked to the depth of trust and
respect between coach and client. While each coaching intervention
is unique, a common goal is honing high impact behaviours that improve
overall performance. A typical executive coaching assignment lasts
three to six months and involves a four-step process:
Setting Expectations
> Each coaching assignment starts with defining a clear mandate,
established with input from the client and his or her organization.
Coach and client work together to map out expectations, objectives
and a strategy to ensure that each stage of the process is focused
and productive.
Comprehensive Assessment
> Extensive testing, as well as comprehensive 360 degree feedback,
are recommended to gain in-depth insights and to clarify the client’s
motivations, values and leadership style.
> Benefits of executive coaching initiatives can include increased
levels of motivation and satisfaction for the individual and more
effective development and deployment of key talent by the organization.
Exploring and Implementation
> Coaching usually consists of a series of regular, weekly meetings
to explore the individual’s level of self-awareness and to
identify their specific goals for personal and professional growth,
leading to action steps realistic in the work setting. Feedback
and coaching is targeted and will address specific competencies
and behaviours. Clients will develop tactics for achieving their
career aspirations and organizational objectives.
Evaluation and Follow-up
> Throughout the process, the coach and client will review the
action plan, milestones and projected outcomes. Confidentiality
between coach and client is important, but in most cases dialogue
with the sponsor organization is important to ensure all parties
see the desired outcomes.
